There are three completely different portions of the site: a weblog, a random story built by reader contributions, and the “nodist network”. No section of the site should be missed.

Erich’s weblog is easy to read much in part to his way of getting straight to the point about whatever he’s talking about. He updates several times a day, giving the reader something to come back to on a regular basis.

The archives for the weblog is set up VERY cleanly, and VERY easy to sift through.

On two different days I visited this site, and I was fortunate enough to get to see two different site designs. Both were equally as enjoyable to look at, and equally as precise with the backend technical “stuff”.

This is a site that would be appropriate and interesting for people of any age to read, and is well worth the time spent reading it. I, for one, am glad I “nodist” Erich’s site.nodist

The first thoughts I had when visiting this site was this: who in their right mind would ever name their weblog “FUH-Q dot COM?” There is this big-breasted, beautiful, enticing babe holding a black cat seductively in her lap. Of course, my curiosity is my master, and I click through the picture in order to enter this site. I am taken to the sub-directory called “pissed” and the entry for the day falls under the category “same shit, different day.” Her banner contains statements like “everything’s so blurry,” “everyone’s so fake,” “everyone’s empty,” “everything is messed up,” and “can you take it all way?” Whoa and watch out, cover your ears and eyes, and be daring if you can.

Let me be perfectly honest. This weblog is definitely NOT for the light-hearted among us. Serra’s use of language can be brutal and may offend people. She often sounds angry, but there are occasional entries that shine through. Personally, I found it refreshingly open and direct, because I value honesty very highly no matter what the extreme character it may assume. If however you are easily affronted by foul language combined with extreme openness, then it is probably better that you continue your blogging journeys elsewhere.

There are alot of writings and links on a daily basis, dating back to January of this year (when she got fired). Despite the somewhat angry mood of this weblog, the general design of the site is quite good. Dark blue induces the correct mood of this weighty site, and the mixtures of colors make the reading easy going on the eyes. The navigation around the site is nothing less than perfect, and the visitor can get around everywhere without a problem.

So we have a mixture of moods, ups and downs, a mental roller coaster ride. Serra swings from entries titled “Very angry,” “I feel strange,” “This is a fucked up world” and “So lost” back over to those more positive ones covering topics like “It’s all good,” “Yes I’m fine,” “Lazy days.” She has even written some poetry: “Darkness,” “Forget” and “Don’t.” The pendulum swings back and forth.

Here is an interesting entry I found which is appropriate to the general mood that Serra portrays. “I want to be famous so bad that it isn’t funny. I guess it all stems from where I had a very unhappy and lonely childhood. I didn’t have hardly any friends, no real family, and no romantic life. It appeals to me so much, because I would love for everyone to love me and I would love to make someone happy just by letting them touch my hand.” She writes about her rough life and how she was able to overcome many obstacles, and there is a detailed description about depression and how to deal with it. She tries her very best to sound positive, and it is obvious that she is making progress.

A nice extra feature of this weblog is the forum for which one can register, and in many ways this makes it more of a discussion site than a weblog. I registered and there were no problems. Two other folks were online when I was logged in, so there is some activity, though limited. There are alot of other registered fellow-members. You can also have the opportunity to submit your own stories, but unfortunately this page is empty (for now).

This site is very difficult to review considering its dark mood. One has the natural tendency to feel personally affronted and negative. However, I sense that this is to a large degree what Senna wants to accomplish. She does it on purpose. She grabs your attention, but she also holds onto it. You are so caught up in her many words that if you are not careful you get carried along with her on this fantastic roller coaster ride. So in that regard, I have to congratulate her on doing a good job and accomplishing this difficult task. This is the task with which all bloggers are confronted, and each must find their own personal way to overcome it. Yes, I can recommend this site, but do not cover your ears or your eyes, and be daring.Fuh-q dot com

Well I liked the big whale picture on the header of this site!! he site intro told me to expect posts on language, folklore and mac stuff. I started to read.

This blog delivered exactly what it promised!! Links and articles on languages, folklore & mythology, Mac usability, and Booklore. I was pleased to note that there were a few personal entries in there, including the Friday five. This weblog holds a mountain of information and some interesting facts.

I liked the design as it was very simple without loads of links and long navigation to deter you from the actual blog itself. I liked the big bold red whale! It really caught my eye!

There is some help on hand in the sidebar to help you to decipher some of the words used. You can also get information from the about section, though information on the author is limited. I never out too much information as she likes to keep her private life private!

This is an interesting blog, though I do think its appeal will be those with the same interest as the author. This is the only reason why I marked this 3, as I do think it is a more select blog.

The first thing that struck me was the elegant design. It was calming and rather soothing. I was also taken back that there were no links or “bits” down the sidebars.

The first few entries on this blog were tests or answers to questions. Then I realised that it has not been updated since the 1st of march. There were some bits in between the tests, but I have to admit that there was not alot to go on.

I have to say that I was alittle disappointed as it is a beautifully designed blog, but it was lacking in content. There are more tests than personal details, which is fair enough as not everyone wants to splash their lives out for everyone to read and make judgemental on.

There are only 3 links, one to archives, one to links and one to reviews. There was nothing to distract you from the blog, which is good, but if you don’t like the content then you have nowhere else to go.

I have to say that quizzes are not my personal thing, but this was a lovely looking blog. That combined with the lack of posts for so long made it quite hard to review. Still, if you ant to see a lovely design, go and visit. The 11th Muse

Blue, black, pink, and simple layout, so I was pleased right off the bat. The simpler the blog the easier it is to read and understand, in my opinion.

Stephanie Anderson’s “Retrospection” isn’t really all that retrospective at all, but the author is the first one to note that. It seems like it started out with the goal of restrospection and just became a daily journal about whatever struck the author’s fancy. As such, it serves its purpose just fine. This site has probably the most thorough (and hilarious) about sections “moi” that I’ve ever seen.

At first its kind of difficult to find the archives. The ‘oldies’ section, when clicked on sends you to the Pitas.com webpage. The author needs to change that link from ‘archive.com’ to ‘oldestentries.html’. I found the right link in the ‘qoutes’ section, which is a section I throroughly enjoyed. I never thought I would find myself pondering the depths of a Gary Gilmore qoute. There’s also a guestbook.

The design compliments the site. Nothing to distract from what you are reading, the colors do not make it difficult to read.

All in all, I enjoyed this site a lot. Easy to navigate (the archives don’t work well with an older netscape, any IE will do fine though), hilarious at times, when I was done reading I felt like I knew the author, an all around good weblog. Four stars, check it out.
