I had a lot of fun over here, once I found where all the pieces were. Nice site design, a little confusing with all the stuff going on though, or it could be I’ve had too much Christmas shopping today.

The site design is basically clean with a white background. I like the drop down box on the left with navigation to other sections of her site. Some sections are in pop up boxes and some direct to a different page.

I loved the “Christmas Letter”. Cute idea, and I have a brother you can have. There are a lot of fun things to check out on this site. Go to the “archives” at the top of the index page to find lots of links in her archived entries.

Nice calm site design, a lot of information, and some fun links contained inside her entries made this a good blog to check out for fun things to do while surfing the web.

Initial thoughts

Before viewing I had a vague notion as to what the Weblog may include, dry wit was one of those.

As soon as I set eyes upon the Weblog the colours leapt out at me and made me want to close the window immediately however I persevered.

Weblog/Posts

The entries themselves focus around the authors life, which does begin to get a bit tedious, however some humour is thrown in every so often.

I found myself wanting to leave because I had no interest in what the author was saying what so ever.

Design

Absolutely appalling, the colours disgusted me to the highest degree; they were gaudy and unsuitable for this type of site. If you really want a blue background then why not revise the colour blue that you use and go for a paler shade.

I found it hard to read the white writing after a while, so perhaps it could be changed to a more suitable colour.

Extras

Little else to do other than read the entries, a little content wouldn’t go a miss.

Initial Thoughts

My initial thoughts before visiting was that it was going to be a typically boyish site with blues as the colour scheme (as so many male blog sites are these days), however I was greatly surprised to see such an awesomely striking layout and design.

Weblog/Posts

The posts are somewhat interesting, although the author does take his time to get to the point, and I found myself skipping to the end to see what his point was.

Posts are frequent and although long and they do tend to go off on a tangent at times, this is what makes this site worth coming back to.

One point I would like to mention is the lack of correct punctuation that made some of the sentences hard to read, (although any misunderstandings can soon be rectified by re-reading the sentence again)

Design

Fantastic is one word to describe the way the design leads your eye towards the centre of the page where the Weblog lies, and how the navigation seems to lie effortlessly at the top of the page not obstructing your view of the actual Weblog or making it look cluttered.

Extras

There is a good detailed and witty section about the author and when the site originated. This was a nice added extra.

Articles were another bonus; they too were fun to read and made me literally laugh out loud.

Other extras were; a music and movie review page, a web cam portal and a picture page.

This site has some links to some pretty cool sites. I don’t know if they post the “ultimate insults,” but they do come out with some funny links to sites.

One link was on the history of the can … meaning the canned food you buy at the store that stays good for months. The site gives you a timeline of the evolution of the tin can and the different label changes of various products like Pepsi and other drinks. I liked the Orange soda one personally.

Another link I liked was the “Stick Figure Theater of Death” which is pretty self explanatory. The site has little animations of stick figures in different scenarios and they die. There was one of the boy bands and the come out dancing with the same moves and they all get killed.

The Alcohol Warnings link was funny because of the animations of different situations. The animations are of the little pics you’d see on bathroom doors to distinguish which one was for men and women. But it was just funny to watch because I’m sure we all know someone who’s been so drunk they make a fool of themselves in public.

Apart from the log, there are links to other funny sites with similar links which are good, a store to buy stuff with the site’s logo printed on it.

It’s a good site to check out for funny links. The Ultimate Insult

I had a hard time getting into this site. The site’s runned by an early high school boy who write a few sentences per post. His posts tended to just be about school and a few of his friends. But I just wasn’t able to be drawned into his writing. “At my school, there has been a sudden boom in hackey sack (is this a tm?). An old trend is being brought back. People play it at recess and before class.”

Apart from this blog, there are other parts of his site like poetry, photography, links and a little area about him.

Overall I wasn’t too impressed, but if you’re in high school or around that age, then you might like this site and be able to relate to it better. The GLass Hammer
