The first that I noticed about this site was the design. Awesome design. Colors that are not normally used, well I have never seen them used before, are incorporated into the site. Also the double column on the right side was really cool.

I didn’t like the little scrolling thing at the bottom that said take your vitamins. It was as if Hulk Hogan was running the site. Also, it covered up the url to each of the links. Blind clicking (not knowing the site you are going to) is a no-no.

I start reading the short posts. Generally there are multiple posts each day, with some gaps here and there between days. Most of posts contain links with his take on them. Some of his comments were very funny.

The weblog itself is an above average weblog. Each post has a reason behind it – for you to go read it. There are no other explanations other than that so go read it.

How often do we go to a site that we can relate too? Ok well with The Weblog Review it does make it easier. But this is a site that I can relate to. I also know of like three people that should read this site as they can learn from it.

The author posts about her life and what not. She doesn’t post too much personal stuff as per her direction of the site. Each post is not a small post, but rather a long and enjoyable read.

Design is really cool. She just switched to her own server and re-designed the site. I really enjoy this new design, as I haven’t seen anything like it before. There are still some bugs with the site, such as the repeating bluecad logo, archives looking like the old site, and other minor things like that.

Her bio/faq page is amazing. Instead of just telling us about her, she chose to do a time line of her life. Amazing what she put into her time line. I wouldn’t be surprised to see other people pick up on this and have it become the new weblog trend. (Current trend is a tag board)

One thing that I don’t like about the site is the splash page! Granted it does state requirements for the site, but seriously we are in a state now where we can design one site and it works for all. Oh well.

So go check out her site as she has some good things to say. I know that most people can probably relate to her, or at least know someone who can.

Even though this is a personal site, it got classified as humor because all I did was laugh, laugh and laugh some more.

The first thing I noticed when I got to the site was a little quote below the rubber duck that said:

If you do not like them, I have others.

I don’t know exactly what that is referring to, but I think it is rubber ducks.

The author posts daily for the most part. They are just little blurbs into his life. And if nothing happened that day, well he lets us know. He writes his posts as to be funny. Even if the topic isn’t funny, he makes it. My favorite thing that he said was:

The Power Rangers Movie – Do I even have to say how good this movie was!?!

This is probably because I, too, liked this movie and think that it is really good.

At the end of each of his posts is what he calls Quote of Now. These are random quotes, made up? I don’t know. All of them had me laughing. At one point while reading the site, I stopped reading the posts for a couple minutes and just skipped back (archives) and read Quote of Nows.

Design is very basic. Nothing fancy and it looks like a lot of sites that are out there – just a color change. But that is ok, because he wants you there for the posts, not the design. So do as he wants and go check out his posts as you will not be disappointed.

Use Before 02/01/01. Not sure what

the name was all about, but the

author’s weblog was an honest,

wide-open tale of his everyday life. At

first I was a little turned-off by his

pessimistic outlook, not to mention

his terrible spelling. But after

reading through his weblog entries, I

was left feeling as if I knew him

better.

This one was one of those weblogs

you find yourself interested in for no

explainable reason. Perhaps it was

the unabashed glimpse into

Americana: the lifestyle of a regular

Joe, not the typical depressed ‘artist’

or techno geek that usually

maintains a weblog. Perhaps it was

the fact that I was reminded of

myself. Whatever the reason, this

weblog triggered introspective

thoughts in my head, causing me to

compare and contrast my life to his.

As for other aspects of the web site,

there wasn’t too much to speak of. A

typical bio about the author, and

some links to other people and

places on the internet were offered.

The design of the site was rather

bland, but that was probably

intentional. I wasn’t too hip on the

color scheme, but that may have

been the way it looked on my Mac.

Kitschbitch combines a nice, simple layout with a strong design aesthetic and some of the most scintillatingly acerbic wit I’ve read on the web for some time.

This site is not to be confused with the angry, tantrum-inspired blogs that only half-express opinions on a subject. Kitschbitch is entirely the opposite; the spleen-venting is well targeted, well developed and well executed.

Fortunately, the wit is present, and everything is in (relatively) good taste. There is a good balance between the dry humour and observations, and more casual and shorter posts, so that it doesn’t feel like there is nothing more to the site than caustic comments.

The blog is also well supported by an extensive collection of links and an entertaining “about” section.

All in all a worthy read, and one that I shall return to often.kitschbitch
