From the title alone, you can tell that this blog is one of those special interest sites; while there is a large and well documented collection of sites catering to smoking, this blog offers a new point of view on the subject matter. Most smoking fetish sites are allegedly run by nubile, young, female smokers, who gather their friends and pose collectively with their cancer sticks. This blog, however, is operated by a voyeuristic teenager with a camera and an inexplicable fascination with women who smoke.

The problem with fetish sites is that they, by default, appeal to a niche audience. Celebrity smoking shots (with Tara Reid, Liz Hurley and Eve Longoria of Desperate Housewives all having been featured on the site) might help broaden the appeal a little, but it’s hard to shake the feeling that there’s something alluring in these pictures of smoking women that you’re missing. Given the fact that the vast majority of the entries deal with smoking, women who are smoking, legislation concerning smoking, and the author’s personal struggle with smoking (why he doesn’t smoke, why he finds smoking sexy, why his potential girlfriend could smoke or could not smoke), the casual reader will often find his or her attention waning after, say, the fifth or sixth blog entry.

I suppose, in this site’s defence, there’s something interesting about the innocence of the author’s point of view; the fact that this weblog is written by a teenager comes across very clearly in almost every article. The recurring theme of the inexplicable nature of his fascination with smokers also helps to mitigate the fact that he’s been taking candid shots of random women smoking in public places. Think about it – if this site were run by a 30 something year-old male, some of the content would be downright creepy. As it stands, though, we tend to give the author the benefit of the doubt, if only due to the fact that he is, after all, a teenager.

Occasionally, you will come across an entry where the author struggles with issues like religion. I wish I could say that these personal insights give another level to this site, but, unfortunately, they really don’t. While it’s interesting (for about 5 seconds) to read about the author’s struggles with feelings of guilt for his smoking fetish, or his determination to give up ‘masterbation’ for Lent, the writing on this site just isn’t of a sufficient standard to make these entries insightful or interesting.

Naturally, given that I have no interest in smoking women, my ability to appreciate this site is limited. You’d do well to check it out if you’re into that sort of stuff, but it certainly doesn’t find its way into my bookmark list. All in all, the site could be much worse – there are no annoying popups or flash animations, and the content is relatively accessible. The whole site, though, is far from outstanding.SMOKING WOMEN ARE SEXY
