Steve's Thoughtful Spot

This is a re-review of Steve's Thoughtful Spot

I have to admit I was a little curious as to why this site was submitted to be re-reviewed again after it got a 5.0 on the last review. What would be so different that the site would require a re-review? With that thought in question I went on to Steve's Thoughtful Spot.

The page loads and I am greeted with Jim Morrison and Winnie the Pooh. I am still not sure what the purpose is of both of them on the site, but oh well.

The design of the site is a black column and a green column with the blog being on the later. While there doesn't seem to be much originality in the design, other than the logo, it works for the site.

The blog itself is well written. Posts are about his daily life: some are about nights with his friends, to work, to thoughts on the blog itself.

While the posts were written well, I had a hard time getting into the site. I think the blog itself follows your standard blog. Posts could be interchanged with a different blog and it wouldn't seem like there was much difference.

One of the best parts of the site I thought was the about Steve section. He has devoted an entirely new blog to this section. You really get to know Steve in this section as he covers everything from being born to music interests to completely random facts about him.

Over all I think the site will be a good read for some people, but not all. If you enjoy a site about daily life and what have you, this is one for you.

In my humble opinion, Winnie the Pooh and friends don’t exactly mesh well with Jim Morrison – not at all. But at Steve’s Thoughtful Spot, apparently they do. Just like in the tales of Pooh and his thoughtful spot, the main logo for Steve’s Thoughtful Spot features Pooh at the top of the page. Directly underneath and to the left is a picture of Jim Morrison. Pooh and Morrison are both legendary in their own respects, so perhaps that’s the common bond there.

There’s an awesome “About Steve” section, which can be found by clicking on the link right below Jim Morrison. It’s very thorough and probably one of the more entertaining bits of biographical information I’ve read on a weblog.

Based on strictly content, this weblog is wonderful. Steve had me laughing in every single post. There’s nothing you have to “get” to understand his humor. He’s just flat-out a funny guy. He writes well, and he’s got a terrific way of throwing additional comments into his stories that make you laugh and make the anecdotes seem so real.

Steve makes you laugh with random quotes he’s chosen to put in between posts every so often. And he makes your brain work WHILE you’re laughing when he touches on topics like the dominance of the RIAA or the comparison of bodily excrements to different colors in a Crayola 64 box. It’s REALLY funny stuff here.

Steve’s humor won me over immensely with this weblog, and I have no doubt any reader’s reaction will be that of laughter and sometimes side aches and tears from laughing so hard. Definitely check this one out.

Do you want to read a blog that tries to make friends with you? Try Steve's Thoughful Spot. As opposed to the usual personal blogs that are seemingly written for acquintances only, here's one that lets you know about the person behind names and doesn't assume you've been a faithful reader from day one.

Steve has a passion for blogging, which is endearing. He blogs with a vigor, often sparing no details while describing what happened last week, last night or this morning. Unfortunately Steve apparently does not spell check his entries, for there are more than just a few spelling and grammar mistakes. While Steve talks about himself quite comfortably and openly, there are times when the entries just sound like all the others out there, and some of the jokes just fall flat. One unique feature: Steve quotes a few lines, usually from popular movies or tv shows, after every entry.

Now we come to the layout. I don't know why, but this particular blog design really irks me off. No matter how many times I see it, I still furrow my brows when I come across this combination of blue, red, yellow and green. Also, pages which require readers to slide it left and right (too big to fit screen) are irritating.

All said, Steve's blog isn't exactly thoughtful, nor is it brilliant, but it is interesting. It makes you a friend of Steve. Kind of like a catchy j.lo pop song, if Steve will forgive my analogy.
